Garlic Growers Challenge Students of Culinary Arts Schools in California

california garlic recipe contest

Students at three culinary arts schools in California have been challenged to come up with their best Super Bowl party dish using heirloom garlic.

In a recent article for ThePacker.com, writer Ashley Bentley explains that the purpose of the contest, which is being sponsored by California garlic grower Christopher Ranch, "is to help the company establish relationships with students and professors and to raise awareness about fresh garlic varieties."

Dishes must include at least five cloves of garlic in order to be considered for a $500 first-place, $200 second-place, or $100 third-place prize.

Faculty from three culinary arts schools in California—California Culinary Academy, Le Cordon Bleu School of Culinary Arts, and The International Culinary School at Art Institute of California—will judge the entries along with representatives from Christopher Ranch.

Winners will be announced on February 7, during the Super Bowl's half time.
