Culinary School: Toronto School Offers Unique Opportunities
If you're a tea-lover thinking of attending culinary school, Toronto has just the program for you: George Brown College's Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts is now offering students the chance to become certified tea sommeliers.
According to its website, the culinary school's Toronto students will "Learn how to cup, taste, blend and consume teas from all around the world" while taking "a global tour of countries that grow and produce tea from the comfort of the classroom."
After completing eight courses and a 20-hour internship, students are eligible to sit for the Tea Association of Canada's Tea Sommelier certification exam. Graduates will likely find work in the growing number of upscale restaurants and luxury hotels offering elaborate tea menus and services—or in retail stores.
Word Tea News reports that the first twelve graduates of George Brown College's tea sommelier program will receive their diplomas on December 1st.
