Tickets went on sale earlier this month for the 14th annual Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, a culinary world tour taking place September 25 through November 8, 2009 at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Foodies and wine enthusiasts alike will find a wide range of appetizing programs on offer, from cooking demonstrations to food and wine pairings to the evening "Eat to the Beat!" concert series.
Entrance to the Food and Wine Festival is included with regular Epcot admission. This covers the dizzying array of culinary exhibits in the Marketplace, showcasing a smorgasbord of dishes from all over the world, as well as global crafts and kitchen items for sale. Also included are the evening concerts, which feature Richard Marx, Billy Ocean, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and a wide range of other musical acts.
However, some of the reservation-only special events, such as cheese seminars and wine schools, may cost anywhere from an additional $35 to $375 per person. The more budget-conscious can try a mini cooking school—shorter wine and beverage seminars and professional demonstrations are available daily at either no cost or $8.00 per person. The festival offers a unique opportunity to learn tasting secrets and cooking techniques from master chefs and sommeliers, including a number of well-known food celebrities such as the Travel Channel's Andrew Zimmern and Iron Chef, Cat Cora.
