Pasadena Culinary School Students Seek New Opportunities
Now that many of their formerly lucrative, if less-than-satisfying, career paths have become, well, also less-than-lucrative, many Pasadena culinary school students are waiting out the recession by training for new careers in the kitchen.
In a recent article for LA Weekly's Los Angeles Food Blog, Amy Scattergood reports that nationwide enrollment in Le Cordon Bleu culinary schools is up by a startling 21 percent.
In the same article, Mario Novo, Director of Regulatory Operations at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, Los Angeles (which is located in Pasadena), confirms that the Pasadena culinary school's enrollment is following that trend. He notes that career changers "following their dreams" account for most of the sudden influx of students.
