A group of teenagers recently competed in a cooking challenge sponsored by an international foods grocer, offering a glimpse at who tomorrow's culinary school students might be.

The culinary arts students of Franklin High School in Franklin, Tennessee competed for a chance to cook with Ann Cooper in a contest sponsored by Whole Foods, according to The Tennessean. On her website, Cooper says she is a chef whose mission is to transform cafeterias into culinary school classrooms one lunch at a time.

Cooper's visit is reportedly part of Franklin's effort to make school lunches healthier. Recently, all of the school's fryers were removed by director of food services, James Remete, according to the publication.

"This is part of his [Remete's] big push," Charles Gillespie told the The Tennessean. Gillespie is Franklin's culinary arts teacher.

If you're in high school and food is your passion, getting involved in cooking competitions such as this one might be a way to figure out if culinary school is in your future. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says there should be an abundance of job openings for chefs, cooks and food preparation workers through 2016, which makes this a good time to consider a career in the culinary arts.
