YTI Career Institute - Lancaster is a 52,000 square foot building that was renovated in July 2003 to accommodate the culinary division and provide opportunities for additional new programs. Our culinary facilities include four kitchen laboratories and a 2,000 square-foot demonstration kitchen offering theater-style seating. Four allied health labs support the medical programs and our industry-current dental assisting clinical laboratory is equipped with six dental chair and exam stations.
In almost every restaurant or food service establishment, desserts are the showpieces of the menu. This program will teach the student the artistry, chemistry and business skills that are needed for success in the industry. Students will learn techniques of baking sweet and savory pastries and breads, creating confections and presenting foods. Graduates will be prepared to obtain entry-level positions as a pastry chef in restaurants, bakeries, resorts and catering firms.
The culinary arts/restaurant management program focuses on instruction in cooking and restaurant management. A crucial balance of skills in both areas is key to the successful operation of a quality food service facility. Cooking, baking, staff management, career development and an externship experience give YTI students the appropriate foundation to secure entry-level positions as a prep cook, line cook, assistant food and beverage manager, assistant food service manager or assistant restaurant manager.
